Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at sales@gettysburgprinting.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We offer a wide range of printing services, including digital printing and large format printing.

We accept PDF, JPEG, and PNG files for printing. If you have any questions about file types, please contact us.

PDF is the preferred industry standard and we prefer them at 300 DPI (or higher) for the best print quality.

Our turnaround time varies depending on the size and complexity of the order. We strive to complete all orders as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality. Please contact us for an estimated turnaround time for your specific order.

In printing, full bleed means your design, colors, or images extend all the way to the edge of the paper with no white margins or borders. Because printers cannot print exactly to the edge of a sheet, full bleed is achieved by printing the image on oversized paper and trimming the excess off.

  • The Bleed: An industry-standard extra (0.125 ~ 1/8) inches of background or image added around the edges of your design file.
  • The Purpose: It ensures that when the oversized paper is cut down to its final size, tiny cutting shifts won't leave unsightly white edges.

Monitors display colors using the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) light spectrum, whereas printers create colors using CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) inks.

Text weight refers to thinner, flexible paper (like typical magazine or brochure pages). Cover weight refers to heavier cardstock (like business cards or book covers).

Coated stocks have a glossy or matte finish that prevents ink from soaking in, resulting in sharp images. Uncoated stocks are more porous and have a natural feel, ideal for letterheads or writing on directly.

A digital or physical mock-up provided by the printer to ensure all copy, formatting, and colors are perfectly aligned before mass production begins.

We can. There is an additional fee for larger jobs that need to be out in less than ideal turn time situations. Jobs are subject to material availability and labor time. Contact us directly before placing your order if there are time constraints.

Yes, runs become much cheaper per unit as volume increases due to fixed machine setup costs.

These are operational costs associated with preparing files—like designing or editing a file to prepare it for printing.

These are operational costs associated with preparing machinery—like aligning plates in offset printing or preparing screen meshes for apparel.

Yes, by referencing the Pantone Matching System (PMS), printers can utilize specialized spot inks to achieve exact, uniform brand colors .

Artwork has the potential to shift up to 1/16″ during production. Due to the setup of gang printing, we cannot guarantee exact cutting. Cards can be cut right up to the safety line, as shown on our templates and bleed guidelines. We typically advise against using borders in your artwork since even the slightest shift will result in uneven border margins.

The answer to this question is usually “no”. If we push files through as-is, that aren’t set up correctly, our team will likely kick the files back to you, creating further unnecessary delays. We are unable to offer reprints if customers choose to proceed with wrong files and who are not happy with the results. It is always best to submit the files as we need them.
